We're in Westport WA, after driving south yesterday on 101 from the primeval Hoh rain forest in Olympic National Park. In Hoh we walked the Mosses trail where a circle of 100 ft maple trees dressed in yards of moss adorning their crowns & arms were holding a party. The gnome homes varied from single 1 family to 3 story apartments & whole cities!! The nurse log on the Spruce trail had 6 Sitka Spruce trees 200 ft tal!- with remnants of the fallen decaying Spruce ( now the nurse log ) still visible. Do you c the mushroom face on the picture of the tree? We biked to the ranger station & back to our campsite #73 on the Hoh river. We learned that 2 kinds of bats live in the crevased bark of the 200 ft Douglas fir trees. A Magical place indeed.
