9/13-16 Alyssa & her boyfriend Mark made a wonderful enchilada with fresh summer squash the night of our arrival on Thursday. Friday Alyssa took us to c the Redwoods of Humbolt county. It was like a mouse looking up at an elephant :) Majestic! Then we went to Fern Canyon walking along the brook with cascading ferns on the narrow path rising like walls in a hallway. Then into Trinidad, a funky little town on the water where I had wonderful clam chowder & Peter & Alyssa had mushroom soup.
Saturday was the North County Fair in the Arcata square. Alyssa's sister Jessica & her husband Dan who were on their back from mountain biking ion Whistler joined us for the day. It is difficult to encompass the diversity f people & farm offerings & vendors from wooden musical instruments to poems written on the spot - you choose the subject & the price! Then there were the Samba dancers - the beat of the drums echoing through the square as they danced to the beat, beat beat of the drums- everyone on the green vying for a front row & dancing to the captivating rhythm. Then we all went to
Eureka to view the lovely Victorian architecture & have some coffee. We ended the day back home with pizza & beer : D
