10/6 wapanocca National Wildlife refuge

We decided to stop here on the way to KY We have stopped at several NWR along the trip & always found them interesting especially when there was a visitor center & a ranger available to tell us about the wildlife. Unfortunately there was no ranger & the visitor center was closed but the gate was lopen so we went exploring & saw several Great Blue Herons ; hawks-either red tail or cooper I think as well as some small ducks & cedars that looked as though they belonged in the everglades. But were no alligators! Peter had seen in the description that there were alligators in the canals on either side of the road. We saw only 2 other vehicles-2trucks with hunters
when we got back to the visitor center we got out to take a pic of the sign & i smelled propane from the trailer as a precaution Peter shut the tanks off. http://www.fws.gov/wapanocca/WW
We arrived late to our campsite in Aurora KY having driven up the west coast of the Mississippi on 55 & through the corners of Missouri & Tennessee 4 states in 1 day /- a record for this trip.
